DEFINITION OF WEB-BASED LANGUAGE LEARNING
WBLL (web-based language learning) is language learning that involves the use of the Web and exploits Web materials, resources, applications or tools. Researchers have found that reading a page of text on the screen is far more tiring than reading the same text on paper. It's also a terrible waste of the capabilities of the expensive machine you're sitting in front of. To keep students engaged and interested, we need to provide them with something to do. In other words, we have to make the process interactive.

THREE KINDS OF WBLL ACTIVITIES
1. pre-created Web activities adopting interactive language exercises that have been already created by others and are easily accessible on the Web;
2. task-based Web activities making use of a variety of authentic Web resources for communications, information collections, problem-solving tasks, etc.;
3. teacher-made Web activities employing tailor-made language exercises modified by classroom teachers themselves for their own students.

FOUR BASIC PRICIPLES FOR FEEDBACK
1. It must be comprehensible to the student;
2. It should inform the student of correctness/incorrectness (it must not rely on the student’s own perception of accuracy);
3. It should explain why something is incorrect, and
4. It should give or point students in the direction of the correct response

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE PAID ATTENTION TO
1. There is a need for teachers to become active and critical Web users and develop their own skills and strategies for selecting and managing Web materials. Teachers need to select or develop high quality Web resources and use the resources through well-prepared WBLL activities.
2. Web-based language learning materials should offer more than simple online feedback on correct or incorrect input (similar to traditional computer assisted exercises on CD-ROM); they should offer a platform for
communication and interaction within a virtual, telecooperative classroom.
3. The features of such a learning environment needs to be defined, also in view of a possible link between learning in a self-study and telecooperativ mode, net meetings, and contact lessons and meetings in a real classroom.

WEB 2.0 LANGUAGE LEARNING
Web 2.0-based online learning is formulated by user-generated content, information sharing, collaborative and cooperative effort, learner-to-learner and learner-to-instructor interactivity, and informal and formal learning, which is a newly-emerging paradigm of language learning and teaching compared to traditional Web-based or e-learning paradigms

The second type of web-based langauge learning is provided by public school. In univeristy, most of the English courses have offered its web-based courses for learners to study by themselves. These courses provide all materials in the books and learners can do exercises by themselves. The system can check if the learner give the wrong answer. Teachers can monitor if the learners finish their task and know the scores of learners. They can also give the online test for learners and the computer can give the result of the test as soon as the learners finish the test.
